Padres swept at home by Braves
San Diego lost 4-1 at home Sunday afternoon by Atlanta for its third consecutive loss in the three-game series. Fernando Tatis Jr.. helped pace the Padres offense as he finished 4-for-5 with a run scored. Josh Naylor went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Eric Hosmer ended the contest 2-for-5. Trey Wigenter took the loss as he gave up four earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts and one walk over two-thirds of an inning of relief. Logan Allen gets the start tonight as he enters with a 2-1 record, 4.50 ERA and 1.44 WHIP with 13 strikeouts over 18 innings.
Marlins stumble against Mets
Miami lost for a second straight day Sunday afternoon at home versus New York as it lost by a score of 6-2. Garrett Cooper helped lead the Marlins offense as he finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run plus a walk. Miguel Rojas ended the game 3-for-5 with an RBI. Starlin Castro went 2-for-5 with a run scored. Sandy Alcantara took the loss as he allowed four earned runs on nine hits with six strikeouts and two walks over six innings. Jordan Yamamoto will start tonight for Miami as he comes in with a 3-0 record, 1.24 ERA and 0.90 WHIP with 30 strikeouts over 29 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
San Diego
The Padres are 5-1 in their last six road games. San Diego is 0-5 in its last five games versus the NL East.
Miami
The Marlins are 6-2 in their last eight games versus the NL West. Miami is 4-1 in the last five Yamamoto starts.
Prediction:
Miami has found a possible gem in Yamamoto as he has been outstanding five MLB starts. While the Marlins might have a tough time scoring for him, Yamamoto might not need a lot of help today as he faces an inconsistent Padres offense. With San Diego having a disappointing season, I have no problem taking Miami as home dogs today with a rookie pitcher that has already shown he belongs at the MLB level leading the way.
