Updated AL Pennant Odds

LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – The 2014 MLB Season is at the halfway point and the American League looks to remain strong from top to bottom. Here is an updated look at the odds to win the AL.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Oakland Athletics are favored to win the pennant, as they have 13/5 odds. Other short odds to win are the Detroit Tigers (3/1), the Los Angeles Angels (9/2) and the Baltimore Orioles (7/1).

Oakland has the best record in the American League and the entire majors at 59-36. They currently hold a 1.5 game lead in the AL West Division. Oakland is a 15-time American League champion, last winning in 1990.

Detroit is 53-38 entering the All-Star break. They have a 6.5 game lead in the AL Central, which is the largest lead in any division in the American League or the majors. The Tigers have won the American League 11 times, last doing so in 2012.

The Angels are 57-37 on the season, which is the second best record in all of baseball. The Angels are 1.5 games behind Oakland in the AL West race. The Angels won the AL Pennant in 2002, its first and only title.

Baltimore is 52-42 currently and the Orioles are holding a 4-game lead in the AL East race. Baltimore is a seven-time AL champion, last winning in 1983
