Mets double up Marlins
New York picked up a 4-2 victory Saturday night at Miami to improve to 41-51 overall and 18-32 on the road. Noah Syndergaard earned the win win on the mound as he allowed two earned runs on four hits with nine strikeouts and no walks over seven innings pitched. Edwin Diaz notched the save as he allowed one hit with one strikeout over one inning of work. Robinson Cano was 1-for-4 with the go-ahead two-run home run in the top of the eighth inning. Michael Conforto went 1-for-4 with a home run, a walk and two RBIs. Jeff McNeil finished 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run scored. Jacob deGrom draws the start tonight as he enters with a 4-7 record, 3.27 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 138 strikeouts over 110 innings pitched.
Marlins falter late
Miami allowed two runs in the eighth inning at home Saturday night to fall 4-2 to New York. Neil Walker helped pace the Marlins offense as he went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Harold Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI. Jorge Alfaro finished 1-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Nick Anderson took the loss as he surrendered two earned runs on three hits with one strikeout and no walks over one inning. Sandy Alcantara draws the start for Miami as he comes in with a 4-8 record, 3.82 ERA and 1.40 WHIP with 70 strikeouts over 101 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Mets are 4-10 in their last 14 Sunday games. New York is 3-13 in the last 16 deGrom starts.
Miami
The Marlins are 1-4 in their last five Sunday games. Miami is 1-4 in the last five Alcantara starts.
Prediction:
New York should be embarrassed of its record with deGrom on the mound as it is very rarely the pitcher’s fault. He’s still getting moneylines severely in his favor and it makes sense against lowly Miami, but the best start of season by Alcantara was a super efficient complete-game win at home over New York earlier this season. I’m going take my chances on the home team here considering the Mets offense seems to always fold with deGrom on the hill.
