Athletics take opener
Oakland is rolling right now and the Athletics have won six of their last seven games, including a 5-2 win at Seattle on Friday. Oakland is now 49-40 on the season, 23-20 on the road and 46-43 with the under. Chris Bassitt is getting the start for the Athletics today. He is 5-3 on the season with a 3.80 ERA.
Friday’s game saw Oakland trailing 2-1 after six innings, but the Athletics put up two runs in the seventh and two in the ninth. Robbie Grossman had a two-run, pinch-hit double in the ninth to really break the game open. Khris Davis was the lone Oakland player with two hits while Franklin Barreto had a solo home run. Brett Anderson got his ninth win of the season by allowing two runs over 6.1 innings with four strikeouts. Liam Hendriks recorded his fourth save of the season.
Mariners continue struggles
Seattle is on a major slide, dropping seven of their last eight games following the 5-2 loss to Oakland on Friday. Seattle is now 38-54 overall, 18-28 at home and 57-31 with the over. The Mariners have Marco Gonzales getting the start today. He is 9-7 on the season with a 4.39 ERA.
Seattle was able to amass just five hits on Friday night. Tom Murphy had two of the five hits, including a solo home run. J.P. Crawford also drove in a run for the Mariners. Yusei Kikuchi took the loss to fall to 4-6 on the year. He threw seven innings and allowed just two earned runs on four hits.
MLB Betting Trends
Oakland
The Athletics have won four straight against teams with a losing record and 18-5 in their last 23 road games.
Seattle
The Mariners are 13-27 in their last 40 home games and 7-20 in their last 27 division games.
Prediction:
Oakland is on a pretty unbelievable road run right now and the Mariners are on a big slide. Bassitt hasn’t been someone that is able to get deep into games, but he is able to keep Oakland competitive. The Athletics should be able to get to Gonzales, who has allowed multiple runs in 10 straight starts. I don’t trust the Seattle hitting to be able to match the Oakland hitting.
MLB Prediction: Oakland Athletics -150
