San Diego Padres Fantasy Spin
Eric Hosmer went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in Thursday’s loss to the Dodgers. Hosmer got the Padres on the board in the eighth inning with his run-scoring single, the only run the Friars would push across on the evening. For Hosmer, it was the 61st RBI of the season, putting him just eight RBI behind his total for the entire 2018 season. It’s certainly been a bounce-back first half for the 29-year-old, who’s batting .294/.344/.457 with 13 homers in 86 games this year.
Los Angeles Dodgers Fantasy Spin
Cody Bellinger hit his 30th home run of the season in Thursday’s win over the Padres. Bellinger clubbed the milestone homer in the sixth inning to extend the Dodgers’ lead. That he’s not even the league leader in homers with his 30 bombs — Christian Yelich has 31 — is wild, but it’s still a heck of a feat to get to the 30-homer plateau with a few games left before the All-Star break. The 23-year-old is having an unreal year across the board in 2019, batting .344/.438/.711 with 71 RBI, 70 runs scored — which does lead the league — and eight steals in 85 games.
