Padres drop four straight
San Diego is riding a four-game losing streak right now after suffering a 7-5 loss at home to the Giants last night. The Padres are 42-44 overall, 19-20 on the road and 43-35 with the over. Dinelson Lamet is taking the mound for San Diego tonight. He is making his season debut tonight.
The Padres rank in the bottom tier of the league in hitting and pitching right now. They have a 4.67 team ERA on the mound despite just a 1.28 team WHIP. At the plate, San Diego is averaging 4.53 runs per game while hitting .244 as a team. Manny Machado has 14 doubles, 20 home runs and 57 RBI to lead the team while Hunter Renfroe has 13 doubles, 25 home runs and 47 RBI.
Dodgers heating up
Los Angeles is on a three-game winning streak right now after picking up two wins at home over Arizona this week. The Dodgers are 59-29 on the season, 36-9 at home and 44-39 with the over. Los Angeles has Hyun-Jin Ryu getting the start tonight. He is 9-2 on the season with a 1.83 ERA.
The Dodgers are solid on the mound and at the plate. They have a 3.44 team ERA, which is second in MLB, while their 1.10 team WHIP is best in the league. At the plate, Los Angeles is putting up 5.33 runs per game while hitting .266 as a team. Their OPS of .819 is second in the majors. Cody Bellinger is having a great year with 19 doubles, 29 home runs and 70 RBI. Max Muncy is adding 20 home runs, 13 doubles and 58 RBI.
MLB Betting Trends
San Diego
The Padres are 1-5 in their last six games following a loss and 1-10 in Lamet’s last 11 starts against a team with a winning record.
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 44-12 in their last 56 home games and 47-17 in their last 64 division games.
Prediction:
Ryu is a Cy Young candidate, but coming off a 7-run, 4-inning outing at Colorado last week. San Diego has some good hitters, but the Padres are far from the Rockies in Colorado at the plate. Lamet hasn’t pitched since 2017 when he was 7-8 over 21 starts with a 4.57 ERA. He’s not likely to pitch very deep into the game and he is facing a great group of hitters. I like the Dodgers to take care of business quickly and roll to a win tonight.
MLB Prediction: Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 (-125)
