Phillies take opener
Philadelphia has won six of its last eight games after picking up a 2-0 win over the Braves on Tuesday night. Philly is 45-40 on the season, 18-23 on the road and 43-39 with the under. The Phillies have Nick Pivetta getting the start today. He is 4-2 on the season with a 5.63 ERA.
Aaron Nola was able to shake his bad road starts on Tuesday night, throwing eight scoreless innings while allowing just four hits with eight strikeouts. He is now 7-2 on the season. Hector Neris struck out the side in the ninth to get his 17th save. At the plate, Jay Bruce drove in both runs on a double in the fourth. Jean Segura was the lone Philly player with multiple hits.
Braves bats silenced
Atlanta was heled scoreless on Tuesday night in the series opener and the Braves have lost three of their last five games. The Braves are now 50-36 on the season, 24-18 at home and 46-36 with the over. Bryse Wilson is getting the start tonight. He is 0-0 on the season with an 8.31 ERA.
Atlanta was held to just four hits in Tuesday’s loss. Nick Markakis was the only player with multiple hits, including the lone extra-base hit. On the mound, Dallas Keuchel had his best of three starts for Atlanta. He allowed just two runs over seven innings on five hits and three strikeouts. Keuchel took the loss to fall to 1-2 on the season.
MLB Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The Phillies are 6-2 in their last eight NL East games, but just 2-6 in their last eight road games.
Atlanta
The Braves are 10-3 in their last 13 home games and 6-1 in their last seven following a loss.
Prediction:
The Braves are pretty good at bouncing back from losses, but Wilson hasn’t been good in his two starts this year, giving up 10 runs over 7.2 innings. Pivetta is having his own struggles right now, allowing at least four runs in three straight starts, but I like the way the Phillies are playing right now. Philly has some really good bats and their pitching has stepped up in key moments. I trust their pitching more than what Atlanta has today.
MLB Prediction: Philadelphia Phillies +125
