San Francisco Giants Fantasy Spin
Austin Slater homered and tripled while driving in two runs to help the Giants to a 13-2 victory over the Padres on Monday. Welcome back to the big leagues, Austin. Slater was making his first appearance in 2019 with the Giants, and it was a good one for Slater. Slater tripled in a run in the fourth, and three innings later, he took Phil Maton deep for his first homer of the game. Slater hit just .251/.333/307 with the Giants last year, but he has hit well in the minors, and it’s certainly possible he’s better in his second showing. You probably want to take a wait-and-see approach this time around, however.
San Diego Padres Fantasy Spin
Fernando Tatis Jr. went 1-for-3 with a triple, run scored and stolen base in a loss to the Giants on Monday. He did it again. After tripling in the sixth inning — his fifth three-bagger of the year — Tatis Jr. was able to score on a pop-up to second base to get the Padres on the board and make it 7-1 Giants. He also stole a base after a walk, but added a caught stealing, making him 13-for-17 in his chances this year. The 20-year-old is now hitting .337/.407/.620 in his first MLB season. He’s a star.
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
The Giants are 4-1 in Beede’s last five road start
San Diego
The Padres have dropped nine of their last 11 games versus an opponent with a losing record.
Prediction:
I like San Diego to rebound tonight. The Padres are 5-2 in their last seven home games, are 5-2 in their last seven home games when facing a right-handed starter and are 5-2 in Strahm’s last seven starts versus an opponent allows two runs or less in their previous game. On the other side, the Giants are 2-5 in their last seven games following a win and are just 1-4 in their last five road games versus a left-handed starter, with that one win coming last night at Petco Park.
The Pick: San Diego Padres -152
