Phillies looking to make a run
Philadelphia has won five of its last seven games to put itself comfortably over the .500 mark right now. Philly is 44-40 on the season, 17-23 on the road and 42-39 with the under. Aaron Nola is getting the start today. He is 6-2 on the year with a 4.22 ERA.
The Phillies are near the middle of the pack in both hitting and pitching this season. Their pitching staff has a 4.61 ERA with a 1.40 WHIP. At the plate, Philly is averaging 4.90 runs per game with a .244 batting average. The Phillies already lost Andrew McCutchen for the season to a knee injury, but still have plenty of viable hitters. Bryce Harper has 23 doubles, 15 home runs and 59 RBI in his first year with the team while Rhys Hoskins has 16 doubles, 19 home runs and 55 RBI.
Braves return home
Atlanta is coming off a 10-game road trip in which it went 6-4, but won four of its last six games and never lost back-to-back. The Braves are now 50-35 on the season, 24-17 at home and 46-35 with the over. Dallas Keuchel gets the start for Atlanta this evening. He is 1-1 on the year with a 5.06 ERA.
The Braves are in the upper tier of the league when it comes to both hitting and pitching. The staff has a 4.28 team ERA and a 1.37 team WHIP. At the plate, Atlanta ranks sixth in MLB with 5.42 runs per game while hitting .264 as a squad. Freddie Freeman is having a great year, as he has 23 doubles, 22 home runs and 65 RBI while hitting .312. Ronald Acuna Jr. has 12 doubles, 20 home runs, 52 RBI and 13 stolen bases.
MLB Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The Phillies are 5-2 in their last seven against NL East opponents and 9-4 in their last 13 games following a day off.
Atlanta
The Braves have won six straight following a loss and 10 of their last 12 home games.
Prediction:
In six meetings this year, the home team has won five, with the lone loss being by just one run. The concern for the home team tonight is their starter, as Keuchel hasn’t looked good in his two starts thus far, allowing seven runs over 10.2 innings with just two strikeouts. Philly has a lineup that can get to him if he continues to be off. Nola has looked really solid in his last two starts, but both came at home. He has struggled a great deal on the road, posting a 7.28 ERA over six starts. That doesn’t make me feel good against a top-10 lineup in Atlanta. This game could see a lot of scoring plays, and I like Atlanta if that is the case.
MLB Prediction: Atlanta Braves -110
