Arizona Diamondbacks Fantasy Spin
Nick Ahmed hit a solo home run and scored two runs in Thursday’s win over the Giants. Giants starter Tyler Beede ran a 94-mph fastball in on Ahmed in the fifth inning and the shortstop turned on it, ripping inside the left field foul pole for a solo shot. The homer was the seventh of the year for the 29-year-old, and he’s got a well-rounded, if pedestrian, 34 RBI, 40 runs scored and five steals in 81 games. Ahmed is batting .259/.310/.416 on the year.
San Francisco Giants Fantasy Spin
Brandon Belt hit his 10th home run of the season in Thursday’s loss to the Diamondbacks. D’backs rookie starter Alex Young didn’t make many mistakes in his MLB debut, but he left an inside fastball just a little too much over the plate in the fourth inning. Belt proceeded to commit some lefty-on-lefty crime, driving it to center and clearing the wall by a couple of feet for a solo dinger. It was the only run the Giants would score on the evening. For the 31-year-old Belt, the homer was his 10th this year, giving him 31 RBI and 39 runs scored. Belt is batting .225/.355/.425 through 78 games overall.
MLB Betting Trends
Arizona
The Diamondbacks are 4-1 in their last five games overall.
San Francisco
The Giants have dropped four of their last five games overall.
Prediction:
Despite losing last night, I like the Giants to rebound tonight and pull off a small upset. They’re 4-1 in Shaun Anderson’s last five starts when pitching the second game of a series and are 4-1 in their last five games when they play the second game of a series. The Diamondbacks, meanwhile, are just 3-7 in their last 10 games versus a right-handed starter and have dropped six of their last seven games after scoring five runs or more in their previous contest.
Friday MLB Prediction: San Francisco Giants +100
