Reds blow early lead
Cincinnati scored three runs in the top of the first inning Saturday at Milwaukee, but surrendered four in the bottom of the first en route to a 6-5 loss that snapped its six-game win streak. Eugenio Suarez and Yasiel Puig each paced the Reds offense as they both finished 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Jesse Winker ended the contest 1-for-3 with a walk plus two runs scored. Luis Castillo took the loss as he surrendered six runs (four earned) on five hits with six strikeouts and five walks over 3 2/3 innings. Anthony DeSclafani will start today for Cincinnati as he enters with a 4-3 record, 4.22 ERA and 1.32 WHIP with 68 strikeouts over 70 1/3 innings.
Grandal leads charge in four-run first inning
Yasmani Grandal hit the first leadoff home run of his career as Milwaukee overcame a three-run deficit in the first inning with a four-run frame of its own on the way to a 6-5 win. Grandal finished the contest 2-for-3 with the homer, a double, a walk and two runs scored. Mike Moustakas went 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Lorenzo Cain ended the game 1-for-3 with a walk, a run and an RBI. Matt Albers picked up the win in relief as he struck out one over 1 1/3 spotless innings. Josh Hader recorded his 18th save as he struck out four over two perfect frames. Brandon Woodruff will start today for Milwaukee as he comes in with an 8-2 record, 4.02 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with 102 strikeouts over 87 1/3 innings of work.
MLB Betting Trends
Cincinnati
The Reds are 6-1 in the last seven DeSclafani road starts. Cincinnati is 1-8 in the last nine during game four of a series.
Milwaukee
The Brewers are 5-0 in their last five Sunday games. Milwaukee is 16-5 in the last 21 Woodruff starts.
Prediction:
Cincinnati looked on its way to a seventh straight win the way the top of the first inning until the bottom of the first happened. Today will be a tough matchup with Woodruff, but Hader threw two innings and might not be available here. DeSclafani has been pitching well on the road and I think the moneyline is a little steeper than it should be. Taking a shot on a Reds team playing good ball.
