San Diego yearns to halt road woes in Cincy
Two struggling southpaws hope to regain their bearings tonight as the Reds and Padres kick off a four-game series in the Queen City.
Oddsmakers at online sports book BetDSI currently lean toward San Diego’s lefty, Christian Fredrich, installing the visiting club as a 1.5-run favorite. Jon Lamb and the rest of manager Bryan Price’s crew, on the other hand, enter as +105 underdogs. The over/under run total rests at 9.5.
In Friedrich’s most recent outing, Washington pounded the 28-year-old for a season-high six runs and nine hits. This evening marks something of a homecoming for him, though, as he hails from nearby Richmond, Ky. Of course, previous outings vs. Cincy haven’t exactly gone swimmingly. Friedrich is 1-1 with a 7.50 ERA in five such meetings.
Lamb’s actually making strides following an utterly atrocious start to 2016. He’s only been dealt one loss since May 28, gradually venturing deeper into contests. Tonight, Lamb should also have the luxury of not dealing with Jon Jay, whose forearm continues to act up.

San Diego still has threats, of course, specifically first baseman Wil Myers. Yet one can’t overlook the reality that Andy Green’s gang is 12-21 on the road. Look for the Reds to rectify their recent misgivings in this series.
