Harvey hopes to halt Mets’ tailspin vs. Braves
The Mets have experienced a largely excruciating month. Thankfully, Matt Harvey no longer seems to be part of the problem.
New York’s ace aims to continue his renaissance in tonight’s series opener vs. Atlanta, with a 7:10 p.m. ET first pitch at Turner Field. Oddsmakers at online sports book BetDSI lean toward the visiting group, while Brian Snitker’s crew enters as a +135 underdog. The over/under run figure is 7.5.
While the offense continues to lag in the Big Apple, Harvey’s firmly on the road to recovery. Following a disastrous first 10 starts, the righty boasts a 2.84 ERA and 16 strikeouts in June. He’s only 2-4 in six previous assignments vs. the Braves, though, with a 3.72.
If Harvey wants to avoid taking the outright MLB lead in losses, his teammates must break through against Matt Wisler. The youngster endured his own struggles early in the month before settling down in last Thursday’s battle with the Reds. Wisler scattered eight hits over 6 2/3 innings to claim his first victory since May 20.

Not only has Terry Collins’ squad dropped six of 10, it will probably be without Yoenis Cespedes this evening. The star departed last night’s win over the Royals with wrist soreness. Considering he’s been the virtually the lone source of production lately, expect another instance of the Mets hanging on for dear life.
