Rays end Houston’s streak
In a surprising result, the Tampa Bay Rays stopped the win streak of Houston in a 2-1 win on Tuesday, getting the victory over Justin Verlander. Tampa now holds a 34-39 record overall and an 19-23 record on the road. Tampa is averaging just 3.92 runs per game this season while allowing 4.10 per contest.
Nathan Eovaldi makes the start for the Rays today. He has pitched in four games this season and is 1-2 on the year with a 4.63 ERA and 0.81 WHIP. Eovaldi has pitched 23.1 innings and has 16 strikeouts with just three walks.
Astros end 12-game win streak
The Astros saw their 12-game win streak come to an end on Tuesday evening in the 2-1 loss to Tampa. Houston is now holding a 49-26 overall record and 20-15 record at home. The Astros are scoring 5.19 runs per game this year while allowing 3.09 per contest.
Charlie Morton is getting the start for the Astros on Wednesday. He is 8-1 through 14 starts with a 2.94 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP. Morton has thrown a total of 82.2 innings this season and has 105 strikeouts with 33 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Tampa
The Rays are just 3-12 in their last 15 games against a team with a winning record. They are also just 2-10 in their last 12 road games.
Houston
The Astros are 9-4 in their last 13 home starts and 6-1 in Morton’s last seven starts against a team with a losing record.
Prediction:
The Rays got the win on Tuesday, but they didn’t do it with their hitting. Tampa continues to struggle at the plate. Tampa got the win thanks to some great pitching, but the Rays can’t expect that today. Eovaldi has struggled in his last three outings, allowing 12 earned runs over 17 innings. Morton has been somewhat shaky as of late, but I trust him at home more than I would trust the Rays.
The Pick: Houston Astros -250
