Hicks stays hot in leadoff role
Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks homered for a second straight game while hitting leadoff Tuesday night as the hosts rolled 7-2 over Seattle. Hicks finished the contest 3-for-4 with his 10th long ball of the season and two RBIs. Giancarlo Stanton contributed a solo home run, while Gleyber Torres was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Miguel Andujar finished 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs. Domingo German was fantastic on the mound as he gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits with nine strikeouts and no walks over seven innings to pick up the win.
Four-run fifth does in M’s
Seattle was even at 1-1 at New York until the bottom of the fifth when a four-spot by the hosts made it a 5-1 game. Nelson Cruz hit a solo home run, his 18th of the season, to pace a Mariners offense that only managed two hits. Dee Gordon had a double for the other hit and scored a run. Marco Gonzales suffered the loss as he surrendered six earned runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and one walk over 6 1/3 innings.
Felix Hernandez (6-6, 5.44 ERA) will start today for Seattle, while New York turns to rookie Jonathan Loaisiga (1-0, 0.00).
MLB Betting Trends
Seattle
The Mariners are 35-17 in their last 52 games overall. Seattle is 2-8 in the last 10 meetings.
New York
The under is 28-10-3 in the last 41 meetings. New York is 46-14 in its last 60 home games.
Prediction:
This isn’t the King Felix of old and the minefield that is the Yankees offense should be able to feast. Loaisiga is still very untested, but was fantastic in his MLB debut. I think he’ll have confidence off that start and turn in another good one. New York is a very strong play tonight.
