Athletics win third straight
The Athletics claimed their third straight victory on Tuesday with a 4-2 victory over the Padres. Oakland is 37-36 overall and 17-16 on the road. The Athletics are putting up 4.38 runs per game this season while allowing 4.44 per contest.
Frankie Montas takes the mound for the Athletics this afternoon. He has started four games this season and has a 3-1 record with a 2.67 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. Montas has pitched 27.0 innings this year and has 15 strikeouts with seven walks.
Padres quiet at the plate
The Padres have lost their third straight on Tuesday and they have scored a total of three runs over this three-game losing streak. San Diego is now 34-41 overall and 18-22 at home. The Padres are putting up just 3.80 runs per game while allowing 4.43 per contest.
Joey Lucchesi gets the start for the Padres this afternoon. He is making his 10th start of the season today and has a 3-2 record with a 3.23 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP. Lucchesi has pitched a total of 47.1 innings and has 48 strikeouts and 15 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Oakland
The Athletics are 7-3 in their last 10 road games and 4-1 in their last five interleague games. They are also 12-4 in their last 16 road games against a team with a losing home record.
San Diego
The Padres are 7-3 in their last 10 home games, but 10-21 in their last 31 interleague home games. They also have lost six of their last seven against AL West opponents.
Prediction:
The Athletics have gotten three good starts out of Montas this year. While coming off his lone bad outing, I think he will rebound against this poor San Diego lineup. Lucchesi has been pretty good as well, but I don’t see him getting the run support that Montas will. Oakland will find ways to get runs off Lucchesi, or the San Diego bullpen.
The Pick: Oakland Athletics +110
