Lance Lynn pitched six innings and surrendered three runs Monday against the Rays. Lynn’s worst performance in six weeks was still a quality start, though it wasn’t enough to stop him from falling to 7-2 on the season. He has a 1.51 ERA after 12 starts. Next up for him is a tough start against the Astros.

Framber Valdez allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits and three walks with two strikeouts over seven innings in a 14-3 win over the Twins on Sunday. Valdez was impressive on Sunday, holding Minnesota to just two runs over seven innings. He threw just 56-of-97 pitches for strikes, walking three batters, but was able to limit the Twins offense by keeping the ball on the ground as he produced 13 groundouts to just three fly-outs. Valdez gave up a solo home run to Ryan Jeffers in the fifth inning and a second run would score in the sixth on a throwing error by Kyle Tucker. The 27-year-old right-hander has been excellent since his return from the injured list, posting a 1.42 ERA and 0.95 WHIP with 24 strikeouts over 25 1/3 innings. He’s set for a matchup against the White Sox in Houston on Saturday.
