From Rotoworld: Severino held the Orioles to one run over seven innings, striking out eight, in a win Saturday. Severino was nearly perfect on a night when he hardly needed to be, receiving 16 runs of support. The right-hander needed a fraction of that, giving up just two hits and walking two over his seven innings. Severino still hasn’t lost since the first day of May, improving to 5-2 with a 2.75 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 84/18 K/BB ratio over 75 1/3 innings. A date with the Athletics is on tap for Thursday.
Manaea led the A’s to victory in Game 2 of their doubleheader Saturday against the Rays by allowing just six hits and two runs over seven strong innings. He walked two and struck out five while throwing 67 of his 103 pitches for strikes. Manaea couldn’t solve Evan Longoria, allowing an RBI single and a solo home run to the Rays’ third baseman, but kept the rest of the lineup at bay. He’s been sensational over his last five starts, winning all five while posting an incredible 1.97 ERA. Manaea will look to make it six straight against the Yankees next Friday.
Bet Tonight’s Yankees vs. A’s Game
OUR PREDICTION: The Yankees are 5-2 in Severino’s last seven starts, are 4-0 in his last four outings coming off four days of rest, and are 7-3 in their last 10 games coming off a loss. The A’s, meanwhile, are 1-5 in their last six games following a win, are 2-6 in their last eight games overall, and are just 2-8 in their last 10 games versus a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15.
