Cubs vs. Mets Prediction
Will the Cubs string together back-to-back wins versus the Mets when the teams meet again tonight at 7:10PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Cubs are -125 money line favorites versus the Mets, who have odds of +105 to pull off the upset in New York. With Mike Montgomery set to face Matt Harvey in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 9 runs.

Latest on Montgomery from Rotoworld: Montgomery allowed two runs over four frames in Friday’s loss to the Rockies. He struck out five over his four innings and yielded just three hits, but Montgomery walked three and served up a two-run homer to Ryan Hanigan. It’s sounding like Montgomery could be headed back to the bullpen now, as Kyle Hendricks (hand) is due back next week.
Harvey pitched five scoreless innings Friday in a no-decision against the Braves. Harvey needed 104 pitches to get his 15 outs, so it wasn’t a quick hook to boost his confidence; he went as far as anyone would have expected him to. It doesn’t look like classic Harvey is coming back, but he’s been effective in three of his last four starts. He’s still not going to be a good play in mixed leagues against the Cubs and Dodgers his next two times out.
Bet Tonight’s Cubs vs. Mets Game
OUR PREDICTION: The Mets are 2-8 in Harvey’s last 10 starts, are 2-9 in his last 11 outings after allowing five runs or more in their previous game, and are 1-5 in his last six starts coming off four days of rest. Even though the Cubs racked up 14 wins last night, I don’t think they’ve suddenly figured things out offensively, especially on the road. That said, I’m willing to bet on a still-talented Chicago lineup against a guy in Harvey who is unlikely to dominate.
