J.D. Martinez is out of the Red Sox lineup Sunday versus the Marlins. This seemed to be a routine day of the rest for the 33-year-old, who has started the last four games. However, it’s possible the veteran slugger is dealing with soreness after fouling a ball off his left foot during Saturday’s contest. Martinez is batting .328/.399/.587 this season and Boston likely wants to take it easy and make sure he is around for the entire season.

Jameson Taillon allowed three runs over five innings in a loss to the Rays on Monday. Taillon surrendered five hits — including a 334-foot- solo homer to Austin Meadows in the fourth — while walking three and striking out five. It was a step back from his last outing against the White Sox (two hits allowed over five scoreless frames), though the lack of offense from the Yankees is the far bigger issue right now. Taillon has a 5.10 ERA through 10 starts and lines up for a tough matchup against the Red Sox this weekend at home.
Red Sox vs. Yankees Betting Prediction
The Red Sox are 7-23 in their last 30 meetings with the Yankees and are 17-35 in their last 52 games at Yankee Stadium. Despite winning last night, Boston is also just 1-4 in its last five road games and is 1-4 in its last five games as an underdog. Meanwhile, the Yankees are 13-5 in their last 18 games versus a team with a winning record and have won 94 of their last 137 games at home.
