Latest scoop on Dickey via Rotoworld: Dickey somehow managed to notch a quality start despite allowing 11 hits and three walks over six frames in Tuesday’s 6-5 win over the Pirates. Pitching on three days’ rest, Dickey struck out just two and surrendered a home run to Jordy Mercer, but he managed to keep the Braves in the game, ultimately permitting three runs while throwing 102 pitches. Atlanta is probably satisfied with the knuckleballer’s 4.17 ERA, but it’s come along with an ugly 1.56 WHIP and 28/24 K/BB ratio over 54 innings.
Cueto told reporters late Tuesday that he has also developed a blister on his right index finger. Add that to the blister on his right middle finger. Cueto said he will continue pitching through the discomfort in the hope of developing some calluses. The right-hander struck out eight batters but allowed four runs over six innings Tuesday in the Giants’ loss to the Cubs. He has a disappointing 4.64 ERA for the year.
Bet Today’s Braves vs. Giants Game
OUR PREDICTION: The Giants are just 1-4 in their last five games but have some momentum following their victory last night over the Braves. The team looked like it had some swagger for the first time in about a week. While Cueto’s blister issue is a concern, the Giants are 5-1 in his last six home starts, are 29-14 in his last 43 outings overall, and are an impressive 19-4 in his last 23 starts coming off four days of rest. Simply put, when he’s on the bump, San Francisco usually wins.
