Reds vs. Phillies Prediction
Can the struggling Phillies get to Reds’ starter Bronso Arroyo and pick up a rare win today at 4:05PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Phillies are -125 money line favorites versus the Reds, who have odds of +105 to pull off the upset in Philly. With Arroyo set to face Jerad Eickhoff in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 9 runs.

Arroyo surrendered six earned runs over 5 1/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Rockies. Another ugly outing for the veteran right-hander, who holds a 6.75 ERA in nine starts covering 46 2/3 innings. He walked two and gave up nine hits Sunday, including a whopping four home runs. It might be time for the Reds to end this experiment.
Eickhoff fell to 0-5 after giving up four runs in six innings Monday against the Rockies. Eickhoff was really unlucky in going 0-1 with a 2.55 ERA over his last four starts, but he has a 6.67 ERA while going 0-3 in the last five. Overall, the Phillies are 1-8 in his starts. A Triple-A stint still doesn’t seem necessary, but with the Phillies perhaps looking to shake things up, he can’t take anything for granted right now.
Bet Today’s Reds vs. Phillies Game
OUR PREDICTION: Despite winning last night, the Reds are just 8-21 in their last 29 games in Philadelphia. They’re also just 1-5 in Arroyo’s last six starts coming off five days of rest, are 2-12 in his last 14 outings after allowing two runs or less in their previous game, and are winless at 0-6 in his last six outings when their opponent scores two runs or less in their previous game. Philadelphia is struggling and hasn’t supported Eickhoff. But he is the better pitcher in this matchup and with Arroyo struggling, I like the home team.
