Latest on Arrieta via Rotoworld: Arrieta surrendered one run (none earned) on five hits over six innings in Sunday’s win over the Brewers. Arrieta had surrendered 13 runs on 16 hits over his last two starts, but he locked in against the Brew Crew, striking out six and walking one on the day. He finished up having thrown 111 pitches (71 for strikes). This nice little outing dropped his ERA from 5.44 to 4.80. He will try to use this as a springboard toward further respectability when he takes to the road for a showdown with the Dodgers next time he toes the rubber.
Wood blanked the Marlins for 7 1/3 innings Friday in the Dodgers’ 7-2 win. A strikeout machine his last two times out, Wood didn’t need to be one tonight; he fanned just four of the 29 hitters he faced. He’s now 5-0 with a 1.88 ERA in seven starts and two relief appearances. Most likely, he’ll remain a quality starter if he can stay healthy.
