Dodgers to down reeling Reds tonight?
Monday’s Dodgers-Reds series opener seemed like a foregone conclusion. This evening’s follow-up, however, could feature nothing but unpredictability.
A pair of unheralded hurlers clash in the middle contest between the two squads, with a 10:10 p.m. ET first pitch out West. Handicappers at online sports book Bovada.lv list the hosts as massive favorites. Cincinnati, conversely, enters as a +165 underdog.
Bryan Price’s club faced even greater odds last night. While Clayton Kershaw didn’t disappoint with his two-hit shutout, Cincy’s much-maligned staff managed to hold Los Angeles to a single run. Whether Mike Bolsinger can be similarly strong is a major question. After struggling mightily in last week’s MLB debut vs. the Angels, the righty was shipped back to Class AAA Oklahoma City. The parent team’s recent 17-inning marathon against the Dodgers, though, necessitated his immediate return.
On the other side, Daniel Wright draws his very first assignment as a Red. The righty absolutely manhandled Triple-A Louisville, posting a 0.79 ERA across 34 frames. He marks Price’s 10th different starter in a shade over 40 games.

Still saddled with the majors’ worst ERA at 5.48, Cincinnati will take every boost that comes its way. Yet we’re skeptical of Wright’s ability to mow down the middle of the Dodgers’ order more than once or twice. Lean on Los Angeles as the tilt motors toward a conclusion.
