Tigers vs. Astros Pick
Will the Detroit Tigers be able to find their hitting today when they continue their four-game series with the Houston Astros tonight at 8:10PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Astros are the clear favorite at home, as they are getting odds of -225 to win. The Tigers are getting a money line of +205 to prevail, while the over/under total is listed at 8.5 runs.

The pitching matchup for today’s game has Jordan Zimmerman (4-2, 6.25 ERA) on the mound for the Tigers to face Lance McCullers Jr. (4-1, 2.65) of the Astros. McCullers has been hot. He has not allowed an earned run in his last three starts over 19 innings of work. He has 60 strikeouts and just 15 walks this season with a 1.09 WHIP. Zimmerman has been a mess. He has allowed at least four runs in his last four starts, not getting past the sixth in any start this year. He has only 28 strikeouts with 14 walks and a WHIP of 1.61.
Houston took the first game in this series, 1-0, on Monday night. That snapped a three-game losing streak to the Tigers. The home team has won seven of the last eight between these two. Detroit is now 21-22 overall, 9-12 on the road and 23-19 with the over. Houston is 30-15 overall, 15-9 at home and 23-20 with the over.
The Tigers were held to just one hit in Monday’s loss by a collection of Houston pitchers. Four came together for the 1-hitter. Brad Peacock got the start and went 4.1 innings with eight strikeouts. The bullpen pitched the final 4.2 innings of hitless ball with six combined strikeouts. Michael Fulmer took the loss, but was solid as well. He pitched seven innings, allowing just the one run with four strikeouts. The lone run came from Jose Altuve, who doubled in George Springer.
McCullers has been on a roll, but I think the Tiger hitters should rebound today after being silenced on Monday. On the other side, Houston should be able to have a better day at the plate as well. Zimmerman has been a mess and can’t record outs. Houston shouldn’t have a problem getting to him quickly and forcing Detroit to turn to the bullpen.
