Kershaw, Dodgers to steamroll Reds?
Jake Arrieta looks borderline invincible in Chicago. On the American League side, Chris Sale evidently can’t lose. Then there’s Clayton Kershaw, whose dominance almost gets taken for granted in the current sea of spellbinding MLB hurlers.
The Los Angeles ace continues his quest for yet another Cy Young in tonight’s series opener against Cincinnati. Not surprisingly, the Dodgers typify 1.5-run favorites in the eyes of oddsmakers at online sports book BetDSI. Bryan Price’s group, conversely, enters as a +315 underdog. The over/under total rests at 6.5 runs.
While Arrieta and Sale enjoy the edge in terms of victories at the moment, Kershaw paces the majors with 88 strikeouts. Oh, and he boasts a 0.82 ERA and one walk in four consecutive wins. The Dallas native’s supremacy simply knows no bounds.
As a result, the Reds (15-29) are permitted to shudder a time or two in advance of the 10:10 p.m. ET first pitch. The visitors totaled nine runs and batted .197 in the past four contests. Adam Duvall clubbed his eighth homer yesterday, but it felt like a small consolation prize as the NL Central’s basement dwellers dropped their 14th decision of the month.

Will Brandon Finnegan offer any hope on the bump this evening? The lefty last prevailed on April 16, muddying Cincy’s calamitous rotation picture even further. On the flip side, Los Angeles (22-23) just snapped out of an extended funk by edging San Diego in 17 innings. If ever there were a lead-pipe lock, we’re looking at as much. Don’t be surprised if Kershaw actually goes the entire way to rescue Dave Roberts’ exhausted bullpen.
