Nats’ rally falls short
Washington lost by a count of 6-5 at home versus the Cubs on Sunday Night Baseball to fall to 19-27 overall and 10-14 at home. The Nationals scored three in the sixth inning and once in the seventh to cut their deficit to one run, but ultimately the rally fell short. Anthony Rendon helped pace the offense as he finished 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and three RBIs. Adam Eaton finished 2-for-4 with a run. Gerardo Parra ended the contest 3-for-4. Jeremy Hellickson suffered the loss as he gave up three earned runs on four hits with one strikeout and three walks over three innings. Patrick Corbin will start tonight for Washington as he enters with a 4-1 record, 2.91 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 69 strikeouts over 58 2/3 innings.
Mets shut out again
New York was shut out for the second straight day at Miami Sunday afternoon as it lost 3-0. The Mets only registered two hits in a contest that ended in an hour and 59 minutes. J.D. Davis had both hits for New York as he finished the game 2-for-3. Pete Alonso went 0-for-2 plus a walk. Noah Syndergaard suffered the loss as he gave up two earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts and a walk over seven innings. Drew Gagnon starts tonight for New York as he comes in with a 1-0 record, 4.09 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with nine strikeouts over 11 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Washington
The Nationals are 5-1 in the last six Corbin starts. Washington is 0-4 in its last four Monday games.
New York
The Mets are 4-1 in their last five home games. New York is 5-2 in its last seven Monday games.
Prediction:
The Mets are probably going to get booed at home tonight and if they fall into an early deficit, it will only get worse. Corbin has been very solid all season and I can’t see a struggling New York offense touching him up too badly. While the Nationals have issues of their own, they are getting healthier and playing a little better. Taking the favorites in this contest.
