Meyer pitched well in Sunday’s win over the Tigers, surrendering just one run on three hits over 6 1/3 innings. Meyer allowed an RBI single to Nick Castellanos in the first inning, then put the game on lock over the next five-plus. He finished his afternoon with seven strikeouts against two walks. He should continue to see starting action so long as he pitches reasonably well during Tyler Skaggs’ injury-fueled absence. Up next on the docket, a road start against the Mets as he tries to work some fat off his still-in-need-of-surgery 5.59 ERA and 1.60 WHIP. (Rotoworld)
Wheeler tossed six innings of one-run ball Monday in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks. Wheeler struck out six batters and issued just one walk, but he left with the scored tied 1-1 after surrendering a game-tying solo homer to Jake Lamb in the bottom of the sixth inning. Arizona went on to put up six more runs against the Mets’ bullpen. Wheeler, 26, has registered a 3.76 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 35/15 K/BB ratio in 38 1/3 innings this season.
