Dodgers unable to mount offense
Los Angeles lost by a count of 4-0 Saturday afternoon at Cincinnati to drop to 30-17 overall and 11-11 on the road. Cody Bellinger went 2-for-3 with a walk in the defeat. Austin Barnes ended the contest 2-for-3. Max Muncy and Matt Beaty each finished 1-for-4. Walker Buehler suffered the loss as he allowed four runs (one earned) on seven hits with even strikeouts and no walks over six innings of work. Hyun-Jin Ryu will start today as he enters with a 5-1 record, 1.72 ERA and 0-73 WHIP with 54 strikeouts over 52 1/3 innings.
Winker HR lifts Reds
Jesse Winker hit a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning Saturday and Cincinnati held on from there in a 4-0 victory over Los Angeles. It was the only hit for Winker in four at-bats. Yasiel Puig finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the win. Jose Iglesias ended the game 2-for-3. Nick Senzel was 1-for-4 and scored a run. Tyler Mahle was stellar on the mound as he gave up four hits with five strikeouts and two walks over six scoreless innings. Tanner Roark will start today for the Reds as he comes in with a 3-2 record, 3.50 ERA and 1.47 WHIP with 43 strikeouts over 46 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 11-1 in the last 12 Ryu starts on Sundays. Los Angeles is 0-5 in the last five Ryu road starts.
Cincinnati
The Reds are 5-2 in the last seven Roark starts. Cincinnati is 36-76 in its last 112 Sunday games.
Prediction:
Los Angeles is too good offensively to throw up another complete dud, but here’s the thing – the Dodgers love to hit home runs and Roark has only given up two long balls all season as he induces a lot of ground balls. Ryu is due for a poor start and he hasn’t had much luck on the road. I’m going to take a chance on the Reds to squeeze out another victory to win the series.
