From Rotoworld: Severino struggled with his control in Sunday’s 11-6 win over the Astros, walking three and allowing three runs on six hits before being pulled after 2 1/3 innings. Severino entered action on Sunday having walked only seven in 39 2/3 innings. His control just was not there against the Astros in this one, though, and it was evident from the start. RBI singles by Evan Gattis, Carlos Correa and Marwin Gonzalez in the third inning would eventually knock him out of the contest, as he had already thrown 77 pitches by that point. Severino will try to bounce back from this ineffective outing when he carries a 3.86 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 47/10 K/BB ratio (42 innings) into a road start against the Rays tonight.
Ramirez will start for the Rays on Friday versus the Yankees. Rays manager Kevin Cash confirmed Monday that Ramirez would be joining the rotation in place of the recently-demoted Blake Snell. Ramirez has a cool 2.92 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, and 18/4 K/BB ratio in 24 2/3 innings (one start, 11 relief appearances) this season for Tampa Bay and carries some streaming appeal in deeper fantasy formats
Bet Tonight’s Yankees vs. Rays Game
OUR PREDICTION: The Yankees have been a bad bet when Severino takes the hill. They’re 6-13 in his last 19 starts, are 1-6 in his last seven outings coming off four days of rest, and are 1-8 in his last nine starts when he opens a new series. The Rays are also 4-1 in their last five games versus a right-handed starter and are 8-3 in Ramirez’s last 11 starts versus a team with aw inning record.
