Pittsburgh Pirates Fantasy Spin
Josh Bell launched his sixth homer Friday off the Dodgers’ Hyun-Jin Ryu. It took 101 games for Bell to hit his sixth homer last season. 25 games is a whole lot better, and since he’s made big gains in exit velocity, it doesn’t seem like a fluke. He could be a top-10 fantasy first baseman this year.
Los Angeles Dodgers Fantasy Spin
Cody Bellinger hit his 13th homer, singled and walked Friday against the Pirates. Bellinger is just unstoppable right now. He’s already more than half way to last year’s total of 25 homers in 162 games, and he has 32 RBI after driving in just 76 runs last season. He also has exactly as many homers as strikeouts right now; last year, he finished with six times as many strikeouts as homers (151 to2 25).
MLB Betting Trends
Pittsburgh
The Pirates are 1-6 in Musgrove’s last seven road starts.
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 75-25 in Kershaw’s last 100 starts.
Prediction:
The Pirates struggle to hit left-handers, especially on the road. They had their opportunities earlier in last night’s game to chase Ryu but after scratching across a run in the first inning, they only added Bell’s solo shot in the final eight frames. Kershaw has looked solid over his first two outings, producing quality starts versus the Reds and Brewers. Assuming Kershaw is Kershaw tonight, I like the under.
The Pick: Pirates/Dodgers UNDER 7
