Texas Rangers Fantasy Spin
Nomar Mazara clobbered a pair of homers Wednesday in the Rangers’ 6-5 loss to Oakland. Mazara took Aaron Brooks deep for a solo shot in the third inning, then led off the sixth with another blast, this time off Yusmeiro Petit. Wednesday marked Mazara’s third career multi-homer game. This ended a power drought for the 23-year-old, who hadn’t left the yard since April 3. Wednesday was also his first multi-hit game since April 7.
Seattle Mariners Fantasy Spin
Daniel Vogelbach supplied one of two Mariners hits Wednesday in a shutout loss to San Diego. After going hitless with a pair of strikeouts in his first three at-bats, Vogelbach ended the afternoon on a high note by supplying a one-out single to left field off closer Kirby Yates. That put the tying run aboard, though the Mariners weren’t able to take advantage. Vogelbach has cooled off some since his blistering-hot start but the 26-year-old is still hitting an impressive .317 with eight bombs for the M’s, who find themselves in a first-place tie with Houston in the AL West.
MLB Betting Trends
Texas
The Rangers are just 1-4 in their last five games played in Seattle.
Seattle
The Mariners are 12-3 in Marco Gonzales’ last 15 starts following a Quality Start in his last appearance.
Prediction:
The under is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams and is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Seattle. The under is also 3-0-1 in Gonzales’ last four starts overall, is 4-1 in his last five home outings and is 4-1 in his last five outings against divisional foes as well. This Texas lineup has a lot of pop but Gonzales does an excellent jump of keeping the ball on the ground and limiting hard contact. And while the Mariners could jump Adrian Sampson, Seattle’s ballpark is big so the right-hander has some room for error.
The Pick: Rangers/Mariners UNDER 8.5
