Giants’ Blach inconsistent but has pitched well at times
Ty Blach kept the Dodgers to one run on four hits over six innings in a no-decision Sunday.
After he stymied the Dodgers over five innings in his 2018 debut, Blach proved he’s still got their number with his six strong innings Sunday. In between, he allowed six runs on 10 hits in a loss to the Mariners, so Blach’s dominance doesn’t extend much past southern California, it seems.
Diamondbacks’ Greinke off to a so-so start to season
Zack Greinke picked up his first win after allowing four runs in 6 1/3 innings Friday against the Dodgers.
Greinke appeared to hurt his back early on, but he stayed in after a visit from the trainer and limited the Dodgers to two runs through six. The third and fourth runs came after he was removed from the game in the seventh. Greinke is 1-1 with a 5.29 ERA.
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
The Giants are 1-8 in Blach’s last nine starts and are 1-6 in his last seven road outings.
Arizona
The Diamondbacks are 21-10 in Greinke’s last 31 starts and are 21-8 in his last 29 home starts.
Prediction:
The Giants make for one of the best ‘under’ teams in baseball because they’ve gotten great pitching from their banged-up starting rotation and, oh yeah, they can’t hit a lick. Their lineup is chockfull of quality players but those players have aged and have no pop. Greinke isn’t off to the best start in 2018 but he should be able to carve up this San Francisco lineup and keep the scoring in check. No need to go away from the under in this series.
The Pick: Giants/Diamondbacks under 8.5
