Cincinnati Reds Fantasy Spin
Jose Peraza finished 0-for-4 on Tuesday, dropping his average to .154. Peraza did a rather nice job at the top of the Reds order last year and he had a nice spring to open 2019, but since the games started counting again, he’s mostly been a No. 6 hitter and he’s failed to get anything going; he has a 14/0 K/BB ratio and just one RBI, that coming when he homered on Opening Day. It’ll be interesting to see if the Reds try something different in an effort to get him going. They’ve been unsettled at the top of the lineup, with Curt Casali and Joey Votto leading off the last two days.
Los Angeles Dodgers Fantasy Spin
Alex Verdugo had three hits and three RBI against the Reds on Tuesday. Verdugo is hitting .375 with three homers and 12 RBI in 40 at-bats, so he’d doing everything he can to force the Dodgers to play him more. The problem is that Max Muncy and Joc Pederson are both producing as well, so there’s very little room in the lineup right now.
MLB Betting Trends
Cincinnati
The Reds are 4-11 in their last 15 games played at Dodger Stadium.
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 20-8 in their last 28 games versus the Reds following last night’s win.
Prediction:
After taking the over on their team total of 4.5 runs last night, I’m going back to the well this afternoon with a Dodgers’ lineup that appears to be heating back up. Sonny Gray has good numbers through three starts, posting a 2.03 ERA, a 24.1% strikeout rate, a 7.4% walk rate and a 52.8% groundball rate, but he’s also allowing hard contact at a 44.4% clip. He’s especially vulnerable to allowing hard contact to left-handed hitters, which bodes well for L.A.’s offense today seeing as how the Dodgers feature Joc Pederson, Corey Seager, Cody Bellinger and Max Muncy. There’s a chance a lot of hard-hit balls find Cincinnati gloves today but if not, the Dodgers should easily cover the 4.5 runs on their team total.
The Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers Team Total OVER 4.5 Runs (-110)
