Boston Red Sox Fantasy Spin
Steve Pearce went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts Tuesday. Pearce has really struggled since returning from the injured list, going 2-for-20 with a 10/0 K/BB ratio. He should eventually get going against lefties, but the Red Sox probably shouldn’t be batting him cleanup as they did Tuesday.
New York Yankees Fantasy Spin
Clint Frazier popped a solo home run off of Chris Sale in Tuesday’s win over the Red Sox. It was a Yankee Stadium cheapie, as Frazier’s opposite-field shot just cleared the short porch in right field and Mookie Betts’ glove and was measured at a meager 354 feet. The young outfielder now has four long balls in his first 12 games with the Yankees. He should remain mixed league relevant as long as he’s in the lineup, but there are certainly long-term playing concerns.
MLB Betting Trends
Boston
The Red Sox are 5-0 in Nathan Eovaldi’s last five starts and are 4-0 in his last four road outings.
New York
The Yankees are 1-4 in J.A. Happ’s last five home starts.
Prediction:
Happ dominates lefties but he has allowed a 1.67 HR/9 to right-handed hitters over the last two seasons and the Red Sox have a plethora of righties that can mash lefties. Yes, Boston is off to a slow start but you know that Mookie Bett,s Xander Bogaerts, J.D. Martinez and Steve Pearce will get hot at some point. If it’s tonight, then runs will not be at a premium because Nathan Eovaldi has struggled with control this season. He has surrendered home runs to both left and right-handers and even though the Yankees are banged-up, they have plenty of firepower in their lineup.
