CARDINALS KEY TRENDS: The Cardinals are 3-7 in their last 10 games against the Yankees and 0-4 in their last four games in New York following last night’s 4-3 loss. That said, the Cards have won 19 of Martinez’s last 26 road starts and are 8-3 in his last 11 outings overall. St. Louis is just 1-4 in its last five games, however.
YANKEES KEY TRENDS: The Yankees have won five straight games and are 4-0 in their last four games at home. They’re also 19-7 in Sabathia’s last 26 interleague starts and are 5-2 in his last seven outings overall. The Yankees have also won 38 out of their last 52 games versus National League Central opponents as well.
Bet Today’s Cardinals vs. Yankees Game
OUR PICK: Martinez pitched like crap in his second outing of the season, taking the loss against the Reds last Sunday. He was all over the place with his mechanics while throwing and not pitching. But Martinez was dominant in his first outing of the season, spinning a masterpiece against the Cubs (7 1/3, 0 runs, 6 hits, 10 Ks). I expect the St. Louis ace to bounce back today in the Bronx. Sabathia has pitched well thus far but even in his last game when he allowed three runs on six hits, he struggled with his command (four walks). Martinez is the better pitcher and the odds on the Cards offer value.
