Chicago White Sox Fantasy Spin
Eloy Jimenez swatted his first two major league homers in Friday’s rain-shortened 9-6 victory over the Yankees. The game was called in the seventh inning due to poor weather conditions in the Bronx. Jimenez had three hits on the night, including a two-run blast off Jonathan Holder in the fifth and a long solo shot off Chad Green in the seventh. Jimenez hasn’t exactly had the flashiest start to his major league career, which might sound weird on the surface since he’s hitting .319 with a .360 on-base percentage, but we have every reason to believe that this is just the beginning of him terrorizing major league pitchers.
New York Yankees Fantasy Spin
Brett Gardner went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Friday’s loss to the White Sox. That gives him homers in back-to-back games. The Yankees have been patient with Gardner in the leadoff spot despite a weak .200/.298/.420 batting line over 13 games. He’s going to have to pick it up to stay there, as Yankees manager Aaron Boone has said that DJ LeMahieu could be a consideration in the leadoffspot against some right-handed starters.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The White Sox are 6-1 in their last seven road games when facing a left-handed starter.
New York
The Yankees have won 24 of CC Sabathia’s last 33 home starts but are just 2-5 in his last seven outings dating back to last season.
Prediction:
Even though the total is set at 10 runs, these two teams should combine for enough runs to push the score over once again. Chicago starter Ivan Nova allowed seven runs over 2 1/3 innings in his last start and Sabathia is making his season debut. The Yankees offense has been depleted due to injuries but they still managed to score six runs last night at hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium and Yoan Moncada is swinging a hot bat for Chicago. Jose Abreu also owned lefties on the road last season so bettors should be able to count on plenty of offensive fireworks in this Saturday matinee.
