Friday's MLB Top Trends
(The Spread) – Ervin Santana has struggled versus the Yankees while the Rays have been very successful versus the Red Sox when David Price is on the hill. Los Angeles Angels (+136) vs. New York Yankees (-145), 1:05PM ET The Angels are just 4-13 in their last 17 games versus the Yankees in New York and 1-5 in Ervin Santana’s last six starts versus the Bronx Bombers. The Yankees, meanwhile, are 36-15 in their last 51 home games, 5-2 in their last seven contests during Game 1 of a series, and 19-9 in their last 28 games versus the American League West. Ervin Santana (R) vs. Hiroki Kuroda (R) Tampa Bay Rays (+112) vs. Boston Red Sox (-119) The Rays are 4-0 in David Price’s last four road starts versus the Red Sox and are 5-1 in his last six starts against Boston. That said, the Red Sox are 4-1 in Josh Beckett’s last five starts against the Rays and 4-1 in his last five home starts versus Tampa. Something has to give right? One other stat: The under is 4-0 in Beckett’s last four starts versus the Rays, so the fans in Boston might be in store for a pitcher’s duel tonight. David Price (L) vs. Josh Beckett (R) View Latest 2012 World Series Odds Chicago Cubs (+181) vs. St. Louis Cardinals (-193), 3:15PM ET As if the Cubs weren’t already up against it today in St. Louis, the Cardinals are 8-2 in Adam Wainwright’s last 10 starts versus Chicago. So not only do the Cubs have to watch their division rivals receive their 2011 World Series rings today, but they’ll also face a pitcher that they’ve had zero luck against in recent history. The Cubs are also 4-9 in their last 13 meetings with the Cardinals and just 2-7 in their last nine games in St. Louis. Jeff Samardziga (R) vs. Adam Wainwright (R) Oakland A’s (+144) vs. Seattle Mariners (-153), 10:10PM ET The Mariners are 5-0 in Felix Hernandez’s last five home starts versus the Athletics, and 16-5 in his last 21 starts overall versus Oakland. The under is also 6-2-1 in “King Felix’s” last nine home starts versus the A’s and 3-1-1 in his last five starts overall versus Oakland.
