Marlins Season Odds
One of the better young teams in all of baseball is the Florida Marlins, who could surprise a lot of people in 2009 if their youthful talent can grow up in a hurry and produce.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBG Global have made the Marlins 50/1 long shots to win the 2009 World Series and established their National League Pennant odds at 25/1.
The Marlins have some of the best young talent in all of baseball. Shortstop Hanley Ramirez is already a superstar, Cameron Maybin is a 22-year old five-tool prospect and Emilio Bonifacio is quickly emerging as a nice young leadoff hitter. Throw in other good young ballplayers Dan Uggla and Jorge Cantu and the Marlins are loaded with future talent.
The starting pitching is nothing to sneeze at either, with Ricky Nolasco leading a starting rotation that also features Josh Johnson, Chris Volstad, Andrew Miller and Anibel Sanchez.
So will all of this young talent come together in order for the Marlins to make a run? Why not? Young teams have a tendency to fall apart in the second half so as long as they can with stand the long haul, Florida has a chance to make a run this year. And at 50/1 odds to win the 2009 World Series, they’re quite a value.
