Boston Red Sox Fantasy Spin
J.D. Martinez swatted his third home run of 2019 Thursday in Boston’s 7-3 loss to the A’s. The Red Sox seem to be in free-fall mode right now, but that hasn’t stopped Martinez from unleashing his usual carnage on opposing pitchers. Just Dingers clobbered Brett Anderson’s third-inning offering, going opposite field for his third round-tripper of the young season. That was his second hit of the afternoon after previously connecting on a first-inning single. Despite his team crumbling around him, the 31-year-old has put up a stout .364/.417/.636 batting line through 33 at-bats. He might be the only thing that’s gone right for Boston this year.
Arizona Diamondbacks Fantasy Spin
David Peralta went 2-for-4 with two doubles in a loss to the Padres on Wednesday. Peralta now has seven doubles on the season in just seven games this season, which puts him on pace for 162 on the season. That’s probably not going to happen. Neither is the .455 average he currently possesses, but it’s pretty clear that Peralta is locked in to begin the 2019 campaign. After a strong 2018 season, there’s reason to believe that Peralta will add fantasy value again this year.
MLB Betting Trends
Boston
The Red Sox are 41-10 in their last 51 interleauge games and have beaten National League West opponents 48 times in their last 65 tries.
Arizona
The Diamondbacks have now lost 24 of their last 35 games overall and are 3-8 in their last 11 home games.
Prediction:
The defending champs are off to a slow start but they have also dominated the Diamondbacks, beating Arizona in 10 of the last 11 meetings between the two clubs. They have also been profitable when Rick Porcello starts, winning seven of his last 10 outings overall and posting a 15-2 record when he faces an opponent from the National League. Finally, the Diamondbacks are 1-5 in Zack Godley’s last six starts and are 1-10 in their last 11 games versus AL East opponents. We seemingly are getting Boston at a discount.
The Pick: Boston Red Sox -132
