Baltimore Orioles Fantasy Spin
Miguel Castro served up a home run but hung on to notch a save in the Orioles’ win over the Blue Jays on Tuesday. Manager Brandon Hyde was serious when he said he’d use a committee at closer, as the O’s have recorded four saves and they’ve all gone to different players (and the presumed favorite, Mychal Givens, has zero saves). This one went to Castro, who gave up a one-out long ball to Rowdy Tellez but rallied to record to final two outs. The Baltimore bullpen figures to continue to be dicey.
Toronto Blue Jays Fantasy Spin
Rowdy Tellez slugged a solo home run Tuesday as the Blue Jays fell to the Orioles. Tellez had a big opportunity in the sixth inning with the bases loaded and two out, but he swung at the first pitch and flew out. He did make it a one-run game with a long blast to center field in the ninth, but the Jays’ final two hitters couldn’t come through. Tellez should continue to see regular at-bats in the designated hitter spot versus righties and is worthy of a look in deeper formats.
MLB Betting Trends
Baltimore
The Orioles have lost 76 of their last 101 games on the road and are 33-71 in their last 104 meetings with the Blue Jays in Toronto.
Toronto
Despite their success versus the Orioles at home, the Blue Jays are just 2-6 in their last eight games against Baltimore overall.
Prediction:
These two teams often play low-scoring games, as the under is 35-16-1 in the last 52 meetings and 20-7 in the previous 27 games at Rogers Centre (including last night). That said, the over is 16-7-2 in the Orioles’ last 25 games coming off a win and is 10-3-1 in their last 14 road games. The over is also 3-1-1 in the Blue Jays’ last five divisional games and while Matt Shoemaker owns a 2.88 ERA over 25 innings (four starts) versus the Orioles, Trey Mancini and Jonathan Villar are red-hot for Baltimore.
The Pick: Orioles/Blue Jays over 8.5
