New Twist to Rivalry
Boston, MA – The rivalry between the Yankees and Red Sox is already intense. Throw in a couple of new twists and the hype soars.
Sunday night’s game between the storied franchises is the first of the 2010 season, a prime-time showcase all to themselves while other teams wait until Monday for opening day.
And New York starts off as defending champions for the first time since its 2001 opener.
Yankees slugger Mark Teixeira says that’s special because a team doesn’t start every season as the World Series champion. So when it does, it’s more fun.
New York’s CC Sabathia is scheduled to pitch against Boston’s Josh Beckett. Both will be making their second straight opening-day starts.
