Cardinals’ 2015 MLB Season Odds
ST. LOUIS, MO (The Spread) – Following their fourth straight NCLS appearance, the Cardinals have a win total set at over/under 88.5 for the 2015 MLB season.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Cardinals are 12/1 to win the 2015 World Series and are 6/1 to win the NL pennant this season. They’re also 5/4 to win the NL Central Division, making them the favorites over the five-team field.
The Cardinals made a significant trade this offseason when they acquired outfielder Jason Heyward and setup man Jordan Walden in exchange for starting pitcher Shelby Miller. The move was somewhat necessitated following the tragic death of young prospect Oscar Taveras last October. Heyward will be viewed as one of the key pieces to an offense that is deep and talented, but is also aging with Matt Holliday, Jhonny Peralta and Yadi Molina well into their 30s.
The pitching staff might be the biggest concern, although not on paper. Adam Wainwright, Lance Lynn, Michael Wacha, John Lackey and either Carlos Martinez, Jaime Garcia or Marco Gonzales form one of the better rotations in the National League. But Wainwright and Lynn have already suffered minor injuries in spring training and Wacha’s status will be up in the air all season after he was limited to 19 starts a year ago after dealing with a stress fracture in his shoulder/back. Health is the only thing that would hold the Cardinals back from winning another division title and making another deep postseason run.
