Pirates’ 2015 MLB Season Odds
PITTSBURGH, PA (The Spread) – After competing for a playoff berth the last two seasons, the Pirates’ regular season win total for 2015 has been set at 84.5.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Pirates’ are 28/1 to win the World Series and 14/1 to win the NL pennant in 2015. They’re also 11/4 to win the NL Central Division.
The Pirates’ offense will once again revolve around Andrew McCutchen, who returns to his normal spot in centerfield. Josh Harrison was also a revelation for the Bucs a year ago and he’ll be counted on to produce again this season, while a full year of Gregory Polanco manning right field could be beneficial for Pittsburgh’s offense as well. Pedro Alvarez, Neil Walker, Starling Marte and Jordy Mercer also return.
The biggest loss the Pirates absorbed this offseason was at catcher, where Russell Martin signed a big money free agent deal with the Toronto Blue Jays. It remains to be seen how his absence will affect Francisco Lirano, A.J. Burnett, Gerrit Cole, Mark Melancon and the rest of the pitching staff. The team acquired Francisco Cervelli from the Yankees in order to fill the void created by Martin.
