Phillies’ 2015 MLB Season Odds
PHILADELPHIA, PA (The Spread) – Considered the longest of long shots heading into the 2015 MLB season, will the Phillies even win 70 games this year?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Phillies’ over/under for wins in 2015 has been set at 67.5, which is the lowest total of all the 30 MLB teams. They’re also 150/1 long shots to win the World Series (tied with the Rockies for the worst odds in baseball), are 75/1 to win the NL pennant and are 50/1 to win the NL East Division.
Most of the offseason news regarding the Phillies centered on ace Cole Hamels, who was mentioned in a plethora of trade rumors but has yet to be dealt. He’ll form a starting rotation that also features Cliff Lee (if he isn’t forced to retire due to an elbow injury), Aaron Harang, David Buchanan and Jerome Williams.
The lineup doesn’t pack much bunch unless Ryan Howard and Chase Utley can discover the fountain of youth. Ben Revere was one of the bright spots for this team a year ago and Carlos Ruiz remains an important cog, but gone are Jimmy Rollins and Marlon Byrd, so others in this lineup will need to step up for the Phillies to surprise. Chances are it’s going to be a long year in Philly.
