Yankees’ 2015 MLB Season Odds
NEW YORK, NY (The Spread) – The Yankees only won 85 and 84 games the past two seasons, respectively. Will they win even fewer games in 2015?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Yankees’ win total for 2015 has been set at over/under 81.5. They’re also 33/1 long shots to win the World Series this season, are 14/1 to win the AL pennant in 2015 and are 9/2 to win the AL East Division.
The Yankees didn’t make a ton of moves this offseason although they did replace long-time captain Derek Jeter with Didi Gregorius, who was acquired from the Diamondbacks in a three-player trade in early December. In the trade, the Yankees sent Shane Greene to the Tigers, who traded Robbie Ray and Domingo Leyba to the Diamondbacks.
This offseason was also filled with stories involving the return of Alex Rodriguez, who was suspended all of last season due to PED use. He’ll serve as a backup behind third baseman Chase Headley and first baseman Mark Teixeria, both of which will need to stay healthy and be productive if the Yankees are going to eclipse 81.5 wins. Jacoby Ellsbury, Brent Gardner, Stephen Drew, Brian McCann and Carlos Beltran fill out the rest of the lineup.
The biggest question mark might be the starting rotation. Masahiro Tanaka was a revelation for the Yankees before he was injured last season, while CC Sabathia needs to regain his old form and Michael Pineda has to stay healthy as well. Thankfully Dellin Betances looks ready to be the next great closer for Bronx Bombers.
