Harper hopes to avoid future injuries
VIERA, Fla. (AP) – Bryce Harper says he’s not the only player who’s had trouble running into walls.
The Washington Nationals slugger said Wednesday that he’s in ”good company,” pointing out that Babe Ruth got knocked out running into a wall in the 1920s.
Harper says he’s heard plenty of wisecracks at his expense since his two collisions with outfield walls last year. The collisions left him with a left knee injury that hindered him much of the season.
Asked if he plans to change the way he handles balls hit near the wall, he joked: ”I’m just going to go right through it again.” Then he added, ”Nah, I’m going to try and get better at that.”
Harper had surgery in October, and he says he now has ”no problem” with the knee.
