Angels, Freese avoid arbitration
LOS ANGELES, CA (The Spread) – The Angels and third baseman David Freese have avoided arbitration by agreeing on a new one-year pact.
After Freese asked for $7.6 million and was offered $5.25 million by the team, the two sides agreed on a one-year, $6.425 million contract to avoid arbitration. He can become a free agent next fall.
Freese was acquired by the Angels from his hometown Cardinals before the 2014 season. He went on to hit just .260 with Anaheim last year but he’ll once again open the regular season as the club’s starting third baseman.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Angels are currently 12/1 to win the 2015 World Series. The Washington Nationals, meanwhile, remain favored to win next season’s Fall Classic at 6/1.
