PITTSBURGH (AP) Pittsburgh Steelers president Art Rooney is optimistic his team is on the rise.
Rooney said Thursday he was proud of the way his club handled itself during an injury marred 2015 season. The Steelers went 11-7 and fell to Denver in the AFC divisional playoffs. Rooney says he likes the way the players dealt with adversity while stressing there is work to be done.
Pittsburgh finished 30th against the pass, an area of concern heading into free agency and the 2016 draft. Rooney said the team has made some missteps during the evaluation process but added he doesn’t expect the team to get away from what has made it one of the NFL’s most consistent and stable franchises.
