Military Bowl Over/Under Free Pick
ANNAPOLIS, MD (The Spread) - The Military bowl might not be the first game that comes to mind when you think of college football’s bowl season, but this matchup could produce fireworks in the scoring department, which makes the Over an attractive value bet.
Combined, both teams have covered 10 straight Overs, including seven straight by Marshall. Marshall’s offense has been one of the deadliest in the FBS this season, and they’ve nearly topped 62 points in a game just by themselves on three different occasions (56, 59, 61). Maryland’s offense isn’t nearly as proficient, but they’ll have to put points up on the scoreboard if they have any chance at stopping the Thundering Herd’s attack.
To their credit, Maryland’s offense has been on the upswing lately, as they’ve averaged 31 points per game over their last three contests. The big star for the Terps lately has been their embattled quarterback, C.J. Brown. He’s had an up and down season, but when he’s up, Brown is one of the most athletic dual-threat quarterbacks in the Country.
In his last three starts, Brown has tossed 4 touchdowns to go along with six scores on the ground. If Brown keeps that type of production up, Maryland could stay close in this game, and more importantly, the over should easily be covered. Both of these offenses are red-hot, and 62.5 points is far from an otherworldly number to hit during bowl season. Over/under values don’t get much better than this.
Over is 4-0 in Terrapins last 4 vs. a team with a winning record.
Over is 7-0 in Thundering Herd last 7 games overall.
